Glenn J. Messina M.D.

Licensed in NY to practice Medicine & Surgery in 1986

After graduating from medical school Dr. Messina completed a year long program in General Medicine at Peninsula Hospital Center and became a Diplomat of the Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.

Followed by Internal Medicine Residency Training at LIJ and Anesthesiology with a Critical Care Fellowship at University Hospital Stony Brook .

As an Assistant Professor at Stony Brook and a professor in the medical school  Dr. Messina was responsible for training residents and medical students and prepared them for the medical boards. Teaching and lecturing is a passion for Dr. Messina and he now gives broader instruction in a video series regarding Laser Tattoo Removal , Medical Topics of Interest , Rejuvenation and Aesthetic Medicine.

Dr. Messina's interest in laser tattoo removal was initiated from an article in a medical journal discussing problems physicians were encountering while giving care to patients with large tattoos. As an example can you insert a large bore IV into the Jugular Vein if the patient has a neck tattoo or, can you place an epidural in the lower back of a woman with a large lumbar tattoo? Dr. Messina having known of the potential to remove a tattoo using a laser trained for the procedure and began the laser tattoo removal part of the practice. One of the patients used the term your " Dr. Undo tattoo" and that became the trademarked name of the new practice back in 2005.

At the time there were only 3 other physicians in the greater NY area and Dr. Messina with his gentile nature became the practice to interview thus numerous radio stations, TV spots, journals and University Hospital contacted the practice to learn about the process. The New York Times also printed an article regarding laser tattoo removal in brides after discussing the topic with Dr. Messina.

Dr. Messina takes the laser practice very seriously and after noting several ink colors were difficult to remove or resulted in pigment issues he studied the situation and developed laser settings specifically for Blue and Red ink that were not only picked up by several laser companies and added to their manual , these settings are widely used today and" came straight out of that little office in Commack" as Dr. Messina likes to say.
